Our Retreat

The Building

Woodland Ridge Retreat was built in 1998 as a stand alone luxury hotel addition to the Creamery Restaurant and Inn.  The design aesthetic was inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright and reflects the genius of the architect Paul Thomas.

A Place to Create

The building features two Garden Rooms or gathering rooms.
Each garden room can accommodate up to 12 guests, for a total of 24, at individual work spaces.  Whether you enjoy sewing, scrapbooking or any other creative endeavor we have a comfortable spot for you.  Solid surface work tables are adjustable in height so each guest will have a work space that is suited to their stature.

Rest and Relax

The eight guest rooms are spacious and offer a boutique hotel inspired feeling. Each room sleeps three guests.

Each guest room features three full sized plush beds complete with down alternative pillows and comforters.

Every detail was thought of during the design of the building. Guest rooms have radiant in floor heating and central air conditioning. Walls are well insulated offering guests a very quiet night.

Room with a View

All of our guest rooms look out on the woodland behind the retreat. In the cooler months you can see to the lake just below.

Our neighbors John and Kathy, owners of  Simply Dunn the home of Dunn County Pottery, keep hiking trails maintained in these woods. They have generously offered their private trails to our guests for use during their stay. Just a few blocks away you will find the Red Cedar State Bicycle Trail.

The Necessities

Each guest room has a large whirlpool bathtub and separate shower.

One Level Living

All amenities at Woodland Ridge Retreat are located on one level, with no steps to climb, allowing access to guests with disabilities.

Please be sure to indicate if you will need an ADA accessible guest room when booking your retreat.

Light and Bright

Walls of windows are everywhere offering a view of the enclosed wooded gardens.

Attention to Detail

All of the tiles used in the building’s construction were hand made by John Thomas and his assistants. John is the son of Paul Thomas and the potter of residence two doors down. Each guest room features leaves from different species of trees collected from the woods behind the building.
